Continuing Education for the Professional Birth Worker
An Advanced Training
This one-day workshop is designed for birth doulas, childbirth educators, maternity nurses and other care providers who interact with families during their childbearing year. Participants will have an opportunity to enrich their skills and become more confident and self-assured in their roles through experiential exercises and group dynamics. Discussions will be devoted to processing some of the more complex issues that may arise in the course of birth work. Facts and statistics will be interspersed with renewing and reaffirming exercises that promote self-awareness and a greater appreciation for instinctive qualities. Participants will practice techniques for nurturing themselves as they nurture their clients and facilitate positive birthing.

Continuing Education Contact Hours
Earn 5.75 DONA International continuing education contact hours applicable toward recertification for attendance at this workshop.

Charting the Course: A Guide to Birth Planning
The benefits of writing a birth preference plan and the elements of an effective birth preference plan.
Induction: The Beginning of the End
Medical and non-medical reasons for induction; the various techniques for inducing labor; and the interventions inherent to a medically induced labor.
Abuse and the Birth Experience
Behaviors common to abuse survivors and women in abusive relationships that may arise during pregnancy and childbirth; and strategies for supporting such women.
Doula Thyself: What the Doula Must Do to Endure
The basic components of burnout and the steps that can be taken to relieve symptoms. Influences on our perceptions and beliefs about birth.

$125 regular registration fee
Save $25 by registering more than one month in advance ($100 registration fee)
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be received at least two (2) weeks in advance of the scheduled workshop to receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be issued after that time. A registration may be transferred to a substitute up to five (5) days in advance without penalty.
